I AM WARNING YOU, IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE, AND DON’T WANT IT COMPLETELY RUINED, READ NO MORE. IF YOU MISSED IT, AND HAVE ACCESS TO A DECENT INTERNET CONNECTION, I WOULD RECOMMEND VIEWING IT AT ABC.COM!!!

Ok, as the Season Finale of what may have been the best season of the Housewives yet, this episode was definitely not a letdown. I am going to recap by character/storyline to keep everything flowing.

Gabby’s wedding was HUGE. She started freaking out, because while many thought her to be untraditional, she had to have all of the things a bride was supposed to have. As I cannot remember these things here myself, I will skip that, but she needed something new. Bree was to be coming (from the far off Ski Resort) with a diamond bracelet for Gabby to wear. She shows up late, and pregnant.

{Three Days Earlier}

Lynette has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. They have a $10,000 insurance premium, and they don’t have the money to pay it. Lynette asks her sister for a loan, only to find that she has resorted to wearing a chicken suit and passing out fliers. Her abrasive mother shows up, and a whole history comes out there. She will give the Scavo’s the money, but she is going to stay and help take care of a resentful Lynette.

Victor’s father makes an appearance, and encourages his son to get ready for a governor’s race. Gabby laughs at the prospect of having to do another campaign, something she swears she hates. Victor pursues the idea, and Gabby tells him the wedding is off. The wedding is back on the next morning when Victor’s father shows up at Gabby’s house, explaining that Victor only does what his father tells him, but that last night, Victor told him off, and how much he loved Gabby. Victor then shows up, and promises to forget the whole thing.

Bree and Orson are back in town. Very soon, we find out what many were already expecting – that Bree isn’t. She is wearing a fake stomach to cover up for her daughter’s little indiscretion. Danielle, however, is not at a Swiss boarding school she fell in love with, like Bree said, but with nuns, carrying out her pregnancy. Bree sends Julie Mayer an email as if it were from Danielle, just to keep the story going.

Mike has started an all night plumbing business to make 24 hour calls for a little extra money. Susan discovers this is to pay for her dream wedding that he, unlike Ian, is struggling to afford.

Carlos discovers that Edie is still taking her birth control, even though they are trying to conceive. He catches her drinking at Gabby’s wedding, and they get into a shouting match during the ceremony. Edie goes home, and Carlos disappears.

Gabby goes to find Victor, in order to introduce him to Bree. She overhears him talking with his father abut the campaign. Thy are convinced that with him having married Gabby, he will get all of the Latino vote. Then, Victor say, ‘I know how to manage my assets. Gabby runs off, and finds Carlos, where some kissing ensues.

Susan plans a surprise wedding for Mike, just her, him, Gabby’s minister, and Julie. It the woods, with lots of little lamps everywhere, and very low cost.

The closing clip is about family. It shows Gabby and Carlos, then the Scavos, including Lynette’s mom, Bree and Orson, Victor and his father, and Mike with Julie and Susan. Finally, we are left with Edie. Alone. She has candles lit, and throws off her scarf. she slowly gets up on a chair, and the camera scans across here living room, showing various pictures, and a note labeled ‘My Beloved Carlos.’ We see Edie’s feet on the chair, and then hear it fall over. And the closing image of the season is Edie’s lower body, hanging there, slowly swinging back and forth.

Analysis, and Speculation, for Next Season.

Mike and Susan will be happy. I think that marriage fits. Danielle will have her baby, but people will probably find out it is hers. Gabby goes back to Carlos, but Carlos is distraught over Edie. Lynette and family will fight with each other, but it will also be hard for her, and a dramatic season for their part.

Now, Edie. I think that this suicide was brilliant. Originally, no one really liked Edie. She was the girl who got around, and who was mean to everyone. However, her relationship with Carlos, and role over the last 5 or 6 episodes has, in my opinion, softened everyone up to her a little. We saw she really did have some issues. She was getting a little older – she was no longer on top of her game. She was trying to settle down a little. I think that the segment awhile back really showed this, when she detailed each item of clothing, and how it was just hiding the real Edie. She was becoming real for the first time in her history on the show, and I think that people could respect that. Now, we will have to wait until next season to find out if she will come back and narrate. Rex is the only one, other than Mary Alice, who has ever come back to narrate. I think that it would be interesting if, in the premier next fall, Mary Alice handed it over to Edie. She could start out:

‘Change is something that happens. No matter how hard you try to stop it. People get older, children grow up, neighbors leave. And those who have left, are all too soon forgotten. And so now, Edie Britt will guide you through Wisteria Lane, as my time here is done. Too much has happened since my suicide 3 years ago, and a fresh perspective is in order.’

Just a thought…..
